There’s been a lot of talk about the Exclusive Preview Event announcement we made yesterday, such as here, here, over here (oops, that was something else) and here. Plenty of questions have arisen and I’ll try to pin down a few of the more common ones in my craftily composed Q&A.
Q: Will we be able to try and play the game before launch?
A: Yes! That’s what the Preview Events are all about. They will help us prepare for launch and offer you the chance of giving Aion a first spin, to get a sneak-peak and warm up!
Q: Do I have to go to an exhibition to do so?
A: No! We have a number of different activities planned in relation to these events, but you will not need to go to one of the conventions we visit in order to secure a slot, nor to participate. There will be opportunities to sign up and also to play from home.
Q: When was this again?
A: We’re looking at launching them in 2009. Remember that we’ll still be visiting live events and exhibitions where you may have a chance to try the game out before the Preview Events kick off. Upcoming is Games Convention 2008 in Leipzig where Aion will be playable for visitors!
Now, I know that you probably have tons of questions about the details around these events and more details will be going out closer to the Preview Events’ start. Make sure that you stay connected to the hive by frequenting this site and signing up for this newsletter in order to be among the first to know.
Fly safe, everyone.
(Today’s guest greeting, as used by Aion Online Sverige - “Flyg lugnt")
Does that mean that all PEs will take place in 2009?
Edit by Ayase:
These particular ones being referred to are planned to launch in 2009. I edited the blog to further clarify this.
Thanks!
Don’t you guys think that some kind of beta sign up always helps estimating the ammount of users your game will count with at release, so you start with a certain number of servers? Probably I’m just clueless, but I always thought that it works like that for other titles.
Edit by Ayase:
I see where you’re coming from, but we’re confident that the Preview Events will do that job nicely.
Sounds good, the link about the crows was interesting as well.
See you in Leipzig.
Hello.
Will these previews be open for all, or closed to a certain amount of people?
Thanks in advance.
Edit by Ayase:
We haven’t decided on the total amount of people to be invited yet but will announce ~numbers once we have.
When is Aion: The Tower of Eternity hitting the shelves?
Wow! This sounds really interesting!
I am glad i booked Aion: The tower of Eternity so early ^^.
Well I guess we can assume the pre-order dates on amazon (30 Sep 2008) etc.. are very wrong.
If the preview events are scheduled in 2009 then it’s a safe bet than NCsoft have no intention of releasing it before 2nd quarter 2009 at the earliest (that would be assuming all of these preview events were in the 1st quarter, which is optimistic).
Really looking forward to trying it out, and despite negative experiences regarding “buying without trying” in the past, I might not be able to help myself and go ahead and pre order a collectors edition anyway (good work NCsoft PR folks
).
In the meantime I’ll just forget about it and play something else
(wotlk, warhammer etc..)
Wow, the Crow thing was amazing ^_^
