Status Report

Ayase | Friday, 3 October 2008

Hello guys and girls,

As the weekend is approaching more rapidly than sir Lancelot from Monty Python, I thought I would stop by and give you a little status “update”.

This is what’s going down in Aion-town:

The development team in Seoul is still munching through feedback and preparing for the arrival of Korean Open Beta, making sure that the game is just where they want it.
On our own part (Community Team in Brighton) we are working on a few community-oriented items that in some time will surface more unexpectedly than you might imagine. All in all, things are still progressing very nicely and the time will eventually come for you to see the fruit of our efforts.

That is all. Have a nice weekend, folks. smile

Hey Ayase! Haven’t heard from you in a while! :3

I’m glad to hear Aion is doing well. How about you? Since you haven’t been updating recently, I assumed you’re pretty busy (or have nothing to say).
You should write more often, though. Even if it isn’t about Aion, it’s nice to hear from you now and then! ^^

By the way:
It’s the new year! X3 (over here in Israel at least. Not sure if it is over there. Probably isn’t. But I’d still like to wish you a happy new year!)

Don’t overwork yourselves over there!

I was in brighton a few months ago and saw a massive NCSOFT poster, which included Aion.
Makes sense, now knowing theres a brighton based team! smile

It has not been released yet, neither has the release date been announced. I have also been watching this game for over a year with anticipation and frustration because the date has continually been pushed back, I’m patient though, it will be a very good game and besides; I need a new laptop to play it on instead of the one I have, I wanna be ready to play it smoothly when it does release. I’d encourage you to just be ready with a very good PC smile

By the way - i got a little question about style of pvp.
Will the fights be dynamic, like in WoW, where you can attack/use skills/cast spells while moving/jumping, or static and boring like in most of MMO’s - getting close to enemy, spamming skills and then mobing to another one?
In FAQ it’s said rather enigmatic “It is possible to alter the result of combat by maneuvering the character. (Forward, back, left, right, jump”. Does it mean running around the opponent and confusing him, or just running away and hoping some else will stab him from behind?

I would rather not base on videos, since most of them are at least half year old, and as I presume many things have changed in meantime, however mass pvp looks more like chaotic ganking (or maybe this feeling is caused by low fps rate of videos). How is it about 1v1 or another non-mass fights?

Edit by Ayase:
Yes, combat in Aion is very dynamic, akin to what you described. wink

Hello there from Russia ! )
Just intresting, can we play in Korean OBT, or we just must wait for EU realis ?

Edit by Ayase:
I suggest waiting for the EU release!

I have a serious question. Many of people know, that company NCSoft has signed the contract with Russian company Innova Systems about localization Lineage 2 in Russia, than many Russian players are not happy. The company has negative characteristics and lacks.
Question in the following: whether NCsoft will give the right to this firm on localization AION in Russia ?

PS -I have subscribed on Korean OBT anyway ) just cant wait any more !
Edit by Ayase:
I can’t comment on this right now. Aion will initially be localized to English, French and German.

So when you say “2009” is that for both US and EU?
