Games Convention 2008 Quest System

Ayase | Thursday, 7 August 2008

You’ll be able to win great prizes on a daily basis at our stand in Leipzig this year by completing quests.

The quests and all related information will be written on little cards we will be giving away after special shows on our main stage. Quest types and instructions will vary – just like in our games - with different XP rewards for each of them. Collect as much XP as you can to make sure that you’re one of the winners announced during the last show of each day.

Each quest card will have the quest description written on the back and a visual design plus date, time and XP reward on the front.

Please note the following rules and guidelines for collecting quests:

  • With the exception of siege quests (see below), quests need to get marked as completed by us. Unmarked non-siege cards do not grant XP.
  • You can trade quests with other players - even after they’ve been completed.
  • You can hand in as many quests as you like, however a quest only gives XP if:
    • you don’t hand in another quest with the exact same design on the front side.
    • you hand it in on the same day as it is written on the front of the card.
      • DO = Thursday
      • FR = Friday
      • SA = Saturday
      • SO = Sunday
  • Raid, Group and PvPvE quests need to be completed right after the show they were handed out during, when the announcer on stage tells you to do so.
  • To claim your prize you have to be present at the winners’ announcement show at the end of the day and present your collected cards (Thursday 17:00, Friday 19:00, Saturday 19:00, Sunday 16:30).

Quest cards will be handed out after the shows at the following times:

  • Thursday, 21st: 10:00, 12:00, 14:00, 16:00
  • Friday, 22nd: 10:00, 12:00, 14:00, 16:00, 18:00
  • Saturday, 23rd: 10:00, 12:00, 14:00, 16:00, 18:00
  • Sunday, 24th: 10:00, 12:00, 14:00, 15:00

There are 5 different quest types. The design on the front of the card is different for each type and show. This means, you can collect and hand in multiple cards of the same type from different shows, but not of the same type and from the same show. This prevents players from collecting tens of cards with the exact same design on the front. Go and try to find cards with a design you haven’t collected yet to gain more XP.

Quest categories:

  • Siege: Very common, automatically completed, 1000 XP
  • Raid: Uncommon, 10-20 participants per raid, wait for instructions from the moderator on stage and complete it, 1500 XP
  • Group: Rare, 2-6 participants per group, wait for instructions from the moderator on stage and complete it, 1750 XP
  • PvPvE: Rare, One group for each of the three factions (4 Elyos, 4 Asmodian, 2 Balaur), wait for instructions from moderator on stage and be better than your opponents to complete it, Balaur can join forces with another group or fight alone to gain more XP, 2000 XP (6000XP if Balaur fight alone and win)
  • Solo: Rare, Accomplish the task written on the back of the card to complete it. (You might need to bring or borrow a digital camera or a phone with integrated camera to complete the quest) 2500XP

Please note that although you are allowed to complete more than one quest per show if they are not of the same type, you are not allowed to complete multiple quests of the same type per show. This means that, for example, during the show at Thursday 10:00 you are allowed to complete a group and a raid task but you can not get two raid cards marked as completed at the same time. You can, however, take part in another raid and/or group challenge at 12:00h.

Most raid, group or PvPvE quests will have to be completed on the stage. If you get one of those cards try to make your way to the stairs at the stage to be ready when you get called.

Bonus quest:

  • Automatically completed siege cards with 1000 XP will get handed out to the first 500 guests at the NCsoft-Party on Friday night. You will be able to use them at the convention on the following Saturday.

Prizes:

Every day towards the end of the opening times (see schedule) we will determine the winners and they will be rewarded with great prizes. Make sure that you don’t miss the winners’ announcement show or you will not be able to claim your prize!
Here are the prizes we’re thinking of so far. They might still change so check at our booth what you can win when you’re there.
